We love wool….. and fashion at Louth

FASHIONS ON THE FIELD

Best Dressed Lady | Local Lady of the Day | Best Dressed Gentleman

AMAZING CASH AND PRIZES IN 2024

For the FASHIONS ON THE FIELD events, Louth Races positions themselves uniquely by making it an entry requirement to have an element of wool in a contestants outfit. Smaller items such as wool hat or gloves are great, however if you find the perfect outfit that is wool or a wool blend fabric, then that’s fantastic! It was the desire of the Club to increase the importance of the event in a manner that reflected on the history of the district whilst promoting the local wool growers. As the meeting is in winter, it is a perfect partnership with the opportunity to promote wool and fashion and to showcase the versatility of the fibre.

NOTE: Given the seasonal variability we can encounter out at Louth, be aware that the temperatures on the day can be anything from a cold and windy 15 degrees to a hot and still 30 degrees. This means you need to have some flexibility in your outfit preparation until the weather forecast firms up closer to the date. If it is warm, please adjust your layers / fabric weight to be comfortable, however we will still strictly adhere to the following winter fashion rules: Winter appropriate millinery and closed in shoes. No summer looking strappy / short dresses. Please pay particular attention to this, especially if it’s looking like a warm one, as we don’t want to offend by not permitting entry into the event.

Those who meet the general criteria below are asked to self nominate and present at the times designated in the Race Book which will be available on the day (usually immediately after Race 4 for the Gentleman and immediately after Race 5 for the ladies). The event takes place in the saddling enclosure between races, so we cannot give a definite time.

As the meeting is in winter, no summer outfits, shoes or hats will be permitted entry. Please be aware of this so there is no disappointment on the day
